Denholm Road "The Muse"
130-Year-Old Villa Restoration
This Denholm Villa was never going to be a standard renovation. After more than 130 years, the home had plenty of character left, but also plenty of problems. The challenge was to preserve what made the villa special, while rebuilding the parts that simply weren’t going to carry it through another generation.
This was a careful restoration rather than a complete reinvention. Original features were retained wherever practical, while the structure, layout and finishes were upgraded to create a home that feels every bit as good to live in as it does to look at.
A Scalpel, Not a Sledgehammer
With homes of this age, the job is often about knowing what to keep, what to repair, and what has to change. That meant working through old construction methods, structural issues, modern compliance requirements and countless small details along the way, all without stripping away the character that made the house worth saving in the first place. The result is a home that still feels unmistakably like the original Denholm Villa, just ready for its next 100 years.
